Quality and healthy fish are what we strive for at Bergen Water Gardens. We are proud to include fish from Blackwater Creek Koi Farm, Nisei Koi Farm and Hunting Creek Fisheries. Blackwater Creek produces an outstanding selection of koi which can range between 20 to 30 varieties here in the United States. All fish are produced from Japanese brood stock and Blackwater partners with one of the larger koi farms in Japan to assure the finest quality parents. Tremendous numbers of fry are produced and only the best are kept to grow out and eventually sold. Blackwater also produces superb butterfly koi that will add sparkle to any pond. At Bergen Water Gardens we carry only select grade koi which are great quality and fantastic varieties from Blackwater Creek Koi Farm.
Nisei Koi Farm uses outstanding Japanese brood stock to produce the traditional Gosanke koi here in the United States. If you are looking for traditional kohaku, sanke, showa along with a few other select varieties then Nisei Koi are for you. Over 1.5 million fry were produced in 2007 with only 50,000 eventually making it to market. Quality is priority one at Nisei Koi Farm. All fish are quarantined for a minimum of six weeks after harvesting before they are shipped to retailers like Bergen Water Gardens. We retail only select koi from Nisei Koi Farm in 5 to 6 inches and 12 to 14 inches.
Hunting Creek Fisheries has been producing superb healthy goldfish and koi since 1924. This family owned business produces a variety of domestic fantails, shubunkin, sarasa comets and golden orfe. At times, midnight and sky blue shubunkins are also available.
